What age is considered midlife?
People often ask: “Am I middle-aged at 38? Is 40 considered midlife? What’s the midlife age range?”
The truth is, midlife typically starts around 40 and stretches into your 60s. At MCA, we firmly believe midlife is not about a number. It’s about the moment when you start asking questions: Is this really the life I want to keep living? For some, it hits at 35. For others, it doesn’t come until 60.
Today, experts agree that midlife can begin as early as 35 and last well into your 70s. Why? Because midlife only ends when growth stops. And since you’re reading this, you’re clearly not done growing yet.
What does midlife feel like?
For some, it’s confusing. Many midlifers feel that they don’t know where they’re going. They describe themselves as not having any direction, needing more balance and self-knowledge, feeling lost, spiralling and stuck. They’re craving change, but can’t identify what that should be.
